Shakespeare’s satire Measure for Measure, which skewers vice and morals alike, began preview performances May 18 at the Stratford Festival‘s Tom Patterson Theatre.

Directed by longtime Festival star Martha Henry, the production features Carmen Grant as Isabella, Stephen Ouimette as Lucio, Tom Rooney as Angelo and Geraint Wyn Davies as the Duke, with Randy Hughson as Pompey, Peter Hutt as Escalus, Christopher Prentice as Claudio and Stephen Russell as the Provost.

The creative team includes John Pennoyer (sets and costumes), Steven Hawkins (lights), Todd Charlton (original music and sound) and John Stead (fights).

Of appearing as Claudio, Prentice says, I’m so thankful to be appearing in this wonderful company with this fantastic group of world-class artists. I’m humbled by the talent all around me and am so excited to explore this engaging, enraging and hugely complicated character. What a gift. Measure for Measure officially opens on May 29 and runs until Sept. 21. For tickets, contact the box office at 1-800-567-1600 or visit www.stratfordfestival.ca.
