This spring, Chris reprised his starring role in Shakeshafte, the fantasia of a possible meeting between a young Shakespeare and the Jesuit martyr St. Edmund Campion, written by Rowan Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, in an encore performance for the Shakespeare Project of Chicago.
The original reading production was the U.S. premiere of the play. The revival was staged at the University of Chicago’s International House on May 19.
Peter Garino directed Chris as Campion and Chris Landis as Shakespeare (“Shakeshafte”), with Lydia Berger Gray, Jack Hickey, Gary Houston, Peter Eli Johnson, John Kishline, Kim Richard Mowrey, Grace Smith, and Fredric Stone.
The production includes music and sound design by George Zahora. Daniel Millhouse was the assistant director.
