Sex, Church and State collide in a scathing satire that skewers vice and questions the very nature of virtue.

Reviving draconian laws to combat immorality in Vienna, the temporary governor Angelo [Tom Rooney] sentences a young man, Claudio [Christopher Prentice], to death for fornication. But Angelo’s own moral failings become apparent when Claudio’s devout sister, Isabella [Carmen Grant], pleads with him for her brother’s life, only to be presented with a shocking ultimatum.

Chris played Claudio, the young gentleman condemned to death for impregnating Juliet, the woman who is fast [his] wife in Martha Henry’s post-World War II production.

a lot of fine performances … Christopher Prentice moves us as the doomed Claudio

Richard Ouzounian, Toronto Star

a fine Christopher Prentice

J. Kelly Nestruck, The Globe and Mail

Christopher Prentice expresses Claudio’s fear and resignation with haunting perfection

The Bard and the Boards

Christopher Prentice movingly conveys the agony of a young man who feels so defeated by injustice he can scarcely believe in hope.

Christopher Hoile, Stage Door

This is a top-level production of a great play … The cast looks to be hand-picked … Newcomer Christopher Prentice is rather touching as Claudio.

Herbert Simpson, Artes Magazine
